Guna Milan, also called Ashtakoot Milan, is the Vedic system of marriage compatibility matching based on the Moon nakshatras of the bride and groom. The system evaluates 8 categories (Koota) worth a maximum of 36 points (Guna). A higher score indicates better compatibility for a harmonious married life. Two people with 32/36 guna may still face challenges if their individual charts carry severe doshas or if their Dasha periods create conflicting timelines. Similarly, couples with only 20 guna but strong mutual Jupiter aspects and compatible Dashas can enjoy successful marriages.
