Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026. This policy covers both the Gurukul Ashram website (gurukulashram.com) and the Gurukul Ashram mobile app.

What we collect

Order information — name, address, phone and email, used only to deliver your order and provide support.
Birth details you enter — the date, time and place of birth you type into tools such as Kundli, Guna Milan or Panchang, on the website or in the app. These are used to generate the result you asked for. They are not sold and are not used to contact you.
Questions you ask the AI feature — the message you type, plus the astrology context needed to answer it.
Palm photographs — if you use Palm Reading, the photograph you select or capture is analysed on your device to help identify palm features. The palm photograph itself is not uploaded to Gurukul Ashram servers and is not sent to our AI providers.
Usage data — anonymous page-view analytics on the website, and basic in-app event names from the app.

The mobile app

The Gurukul Ashram app talks to this website for a small number of things. This is the complete list.

No account needed. The app's features work without signing up or logging in. You only create an account if you choose to place an order.
AI answers. When you ask the AI Guru a question, your question and the astrology context needed to answer it are sent to a third-party AI provider that generates the reply. The app is configured to use Groq, with Google Gemini and OpenRouter defined as fallbacks if Groq is unavailable. We do not send your name, address, phone number or email to the AI provider.
Palm reading. The photograph you select or capture is analysed on your device to help identify palm features. The photograph is not uploaded to Gurukul Ashram servers and is not sent to our AI providers.
App analytics. The app may send us a short event name (for example that a tool was opened) together with the app's own event details. We store this with a one-way hashed form of your IP address, never the IP address itself, and it is not linked to any identity or to an advertising profile.
App settings and product list. The app fetches its configuration and the products we have published to it from this website. This is a download only — it sends us nothing about you.

Voice input

If you use voice input, speech is converted to text using your device's native speech recognition service. This may be provided by Google on Android or Apple on iOS. Whether audio is processed on your device or by the operating system provider's services can depend on your device, operating system version and settings.

The app itself does not upload raw microphone audio to Gurukul Ashram servers.

How your data is used

To process and deliver orders, send order updates and answer your queries.
To generate the astrology reports, charts and readings you explicitly request.
To understand which features are used so we can improve them.
To send offers or newsletters only if you subscribe — you can unsubscribe at any time.

Who we share data with

We never sell or rent your personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers needed to deliver what you asked for, and only to the extent required:

Payment gateways — to take payment for an order.
Shipping carriers — to deliver an order to your address.
AI providers — Groq, and Google Gemini or OpenRouter as fallbacks, receive your AI question with its astrology context, purely to generate the answer you requested. They receive no contact or order details.

Cookies

The website uses cookies to keep your cart and session working and to understand site usage. You can clear or block cookies from your browser settings. The mobile app does not use advertising cookies.

Children

Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You may ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time. Write to us through the Contact Us page and we will action the request.

Deleting your data and the app

Uninstalling the app removes its locally stored data from your phone. We do not keep a server-side copy of this local data and cannot recover it for you.

If you have enabled device or cloud backups, such as Android backup services or iCloud backups, a copy of some app data may remain in your personal backup until it is removed according to your device or cloud provider's backup settings.

Changes to this policy

If we add a feature that collects something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that feature goes live.
